Article Title
System alarms after programming CDE
Publish Date
Dec-15-2004

Description/Symptoms
System is in alarm after programming CDE

Body/Solutions
System alarms are often present during the software installation process. In most cases, the alarms refer to lines or trunks and will be cleared when the installation is complete. However, if the system has been programmed with a phantom bay (a bay with no physical connections), the system will remain in alarm status because the PCM channels to the bay are down.

Clearing a "phantom bay" alarm in an SX-200 EL/ML or an SX-200 ICP with release 1.x software:
• In Maintenance, select SYSTEM -> SET -> ALARM_THRESH
• For the phantom bay(s), set the minor and major alarm thresholds for PCM channels to 100%, and set the critical alarm threshold to 0.
• Set all other system thresholds to a few points above the current PCM unavailability. For example, if the system is 37% unavailable, set the minor alarm threshold to 40%, the major alarm threshold to 80%, and the critical alarm threshold to 0.

Clearing a "phantom bay" alarm in an SX-200 ICP with release 2.x software:
• In CDE, go to Form 53
• Move the phantom bay(s) from physical connections (CIMs and FIMs) to the PHANTOM column. The PBX will not take phantom bays into account when checking alarm status.
