How to Clear PCM Alarms on Release 2 and higher SX200 ICP Systems
Publish Date
Feb-11-2005

Description/Symptoms
The system shows an alarm, and upon checking alarms in Maintenance, you discover that the alarm was generated because the "PCMs to bays not yet connected".

Body/Solutions
Before Release 2.0 of the ICP, PCM threshold alarms were set in Maintenance along with lines, trunks, and receivers. PCM alarms are now addressed through Form 53 in CDE.
Form 53 is a matrix that assigns bay connectors to bay numbers. You cannot use this form to change PLIDs of programmed devices. You can only use it to change the connector position to which the peripheral is connected. Available connectors are the on-board CIM1 and CIM2, and add-on FIM or CIM modules in MMC1 or MMC2. Use Form 53 to assign any bay number to any connector. For example, CIM1 defaults as bay 2, but could be changed to be bay 6. This is useful during upgrades where the database from an EL system wouldn't match up nicely with hard-coded bay positions.
You can also use Form 53 to categorize bays as phantoms, thus forcing the system to ignore the fact that there is no physical hardware attached to the ICP for that particular bay number. To clear the alarm, move the cursor down until you are beside the bay number that is causing the alarm. Tab over until the cursor is in the phantom column, then type ESC 1 to program it as a phantom.

Test Result
REPORTS-SHOW-ALARMS-DEVICE TYPE-PCM will show no more PCM alarms for the system.
