How To Configure an FTP Account Using GuildFTPd
Publish Date
Jan-3-2005

Description/Symptoms
Backups, log retrieval, and upgrades can be performed quickly using an ftp server. If there is no server on the customer's network, a program called GuildFTPd is available for download from www.guildftpd.com. The account created must have the correct privileges, or the desired maintenance function will fail.

Body/Solutions
The SX-200 ICP default database has the FTP account name as FTP, and the password is @. The account name and password may be changed in maintenance in releases 1.2 and below, or in form 47 sub-form 1 in release 2 and higher software.

1) With Guild running, expand the System heading. Select group, then click on the add user icon.

2) Type ftp in the name field, then the @ for the 2 password fields. Select OK.

3) Select the newly created ftp account.

4) In the bottom right pane, the account's options and path tabs are displayed. Select the Path tab. The default path is C:\ftproot. Right click on this path, and select edit path.

5) In the dialog window, select all 6 privilege boxes (read, write, create, list, append and delete) then select OK.

6) Confirm the existence of C:\ftproot on your PC using Windows Explorer.

Test Result
Open a command session on the PC running Guild. Type ftp <your IP address>. At the user prompt, type ftp, for password, @. User logged in will be displayed.
While uploading or downloading files to the server, activity by the SX-200 ICP can be seen by selecting the Current Connections tab in the upper right pane. You will see a login from the IP address of your ICP.

More Information
Select the Help menu in Guild, and consult the SX-200 Technical Practices under maintenance.
