Article Title
Clearing the Major Alarm on a new install
Publish Date
Nov-27-2005

Body/Solutions
On previous releases, a Major alarm was raised when Form 53 had bays programmed that were not connected. In maintenance, it would show alarms when devices were not available, such as lines, trunks etc.
With Release 3 software, there are additional things that will cause a Major alarm.
They include things such as:
Moss has Option 83 purchased and the Wan port is not connected and programmed properly.
If the site is not using the Wan port, then go into form 47, choose option 5 (Internet Gateway) and change the Wan State to Disabled.
The L2 Switch IP Address in from 47 does not have an IP address or a proper IP Address.
If this is the case, then check form 47 under option 1, System IP and make sure the Layer 2 Switch IP address is valid and on the same subnet as the controller.
The following items will generate a Major alarm and maintenance logs. Read the logs to determine the fault and take corrective actions such as, a system reset, get users to delete some messages or upgrade to a hard drive.
If the 200 ICP has a Memory problem..
If a non critical task has been suspended.
If the Voicemail is full.

If you have form 53 programmed properly and there are no alarms being raised in maintenance when checking under Reports>Show>Alarms>All, then read the maintenance logs under Logs>Read>All.
The above items will generate maintenance logs.
